WHO WE NEED We are seeking a talented, friendly and energetic Emergency Veterinarian to join the VEG family as a Clinical Hospital Educator and New ER Doctor (NERD) Program Lead! This dual role will involve:
Clinical Hospital Educator:
You will be responsible for staff doctor clinical support, constituting approximately 30% of your time.
This includes hosting M+M rounds and journal club, providing in-house case consultation and discussion (with no primary case responsibility), and providing case consults upon request (up to 10 cases/day).
NERD Program Lead:
Overseeing the New ER Doctor (NERD) program will constitute approximately 70% of your time.
In this role, you'll be responsible for providing NERDs with weekly feedback, setting SMART goals monthly, tracking progress using the NERD coaching template, and engaging the team with training sessions.
You will also be responsible for updating staff doctors on the progress of NERDs.
The role will also require:
Working 14 (10 hr) shifts over a 4-week period (Translational Medicine Institute inclusive in shift count) Additional training with the VEG Education team (10-12 hours over a 4-week period) Spending 4 weeks in training at Translational Medicine Institute in Colorado (2 days of teaching commitment plus travel) Enrolling in the VEG ER certification program Understanding standard surgical procedures (strong surgical skill is not required) You will also be expected to participate in the Extended NERD program, which includes training opportunities at various institutions, including Lindsay Wildlife Experience, Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), Oakland Zoo, the Medical Center for Birds, and Sonographer/Imaging days.

Have earned a DVM or equivalent degree Internship-trained 5
