Position Summary
Responsible for reviewing recommendations received for account closure from the Investigations Unit, High Risk Customer Unit, Currency Transaction Reporting Unit and Sanctions Unit. Reviews recommendations for accuracy and completion, and returns recommendations to respective Unit Managers for edits and/or additional information. Obtains approval from BSA Operations Management and respective Line of Businesses (LOB). Duties also include notification to Special Services and entry into the Hot List.
1. Reviews closure memo and email recommendation for accuracy and completion. Works with Unit Managers and Team Managers for correction or additional information.
2. Tracks closure status throughout its cycle via Closure Log in SharePoint as well as IRIS. Maintain appropriate documentation of the closure recommendations.
3. Consolidates the closure recommendations received on a weekly basis for review by Operations Adherence Manager and BSA Management.
4. Communicates recommendation with the LOB to obtain their approval for closure. Manages LOB requests for accounts to remain open by notifying the Operations Adherence Manager.
5. Prepares customer closure letters for each affected account. Provides to Operations Adherence Manager for review/approval prior to mailing letter via certified mail.
6. Once approvals have been received, prepares communication to Special Services and to LOB regarding closure date.
7. Responsible to add customer/entity names into BENCH which is BOTW's Hotlist database. Assists Loss Prevention with BENCH research/validation.
8. Communicates the closure of deposit accounts to the other BUs via email.
9. Prepares month end reporting
10. Maintains thorough knowledge of the Bank's systems used to conduct research of customer transaction activity
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Years of functional/professional
Experience:
1 year(s) experience involving financial research in bank operations, security, compliance or legal areas
Good knowledge of Branch or back-office operations
Some knowledge of BSA regulations pertaining to suspicious AML-related customer activity
Good knowledge of Bank's host systems and eVision, as well as the BSA-related suspicious activity detection systems used by the Bank.
Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or equivalent preferred
Required license(s) or certification(s):
Certified Anti-Money Specialist preferred

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
