Job Summary

The Hazard Awareness and Warning Center (HAWC formerly known as the WSOC) is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and serves as a hub from which analysts monitor for multiple threats to PG&E s assets and infrastructure across the company s service area and coordinate with internal and external first responders and public safety officials to respond to any emerging threats to our communities.
The Hazard Threat Analysts perform real-time monitoring of conditions by leveraging information from on-the-ground field teams, PG&E weather stations and live video feeds, as well as databases, emergency alert systems and social media from CAL FIRE, the National Weather Service, local public safety authorities and other agencies.

The Wildfire Risk Organization is responsible for assisting the company to act decisively and transparently to prevent fires of consequence from being caused by our equipment.
The organization will develop objectives to 1) prevent fires of consequence originating from our equipment; 2) meet all commitments outlined in our 2021 Wildfire Mitigation Plan; 3) continue to foster trusted relationships with key stakeholders; and 4) Develop consistent processes and work standards through the implementation of the Lean Operating System for sustainable operations going into 2022 and beyond.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitors various hazard data sources and determines threat to PG&E assets based on information gathered
  • Performs HAWC internal and external communications
  • Records data utilizing a Geographic Information System (GIS) platform
  • Provides situational awareness to HAWC leadership and other Lines of Business (LOBs)
  • Trains, mentors and on-boards new analysts
  • Executes fire prediction analysis, as needed
  • Executes special projects and/or initiatives

Qualifications

Minimum

  • High School or GED Diploma
  • four years of job-related experience

Desired

  • Experience in a fast-paced operating/control center environment
  • Experience in training others
  • GIS experience
  • Utility experience, preferably in electric, gas, or generation operations
  • Experience working in a public safety agency
  • Experience working in or with emergency management teams
  • ICS 100 Introduction to the Incident Command System
  • IS 230 - Fundamentals of Emergency Management
  • S-190 - Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior
  • S-290 - Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior
