Department Overview

This position supports Transmission system clearances for the gas Transmission Project Clearance Operations (TPCO) team, Distribution projects/maintenance, and Gas Pipeline Operations and Maintenance (GPOM) department. system wide. These positions will be headquartered throughout the PG&E system. This position will require travel system wide as the workload dictates. This position will report to the Pipeline Field Services Department headquartered in San Ramon. The department consists of proud men and women who are responsible for safely maintaining and constructing PG&E's gas transmission facilities. Employees that perform maintenance and construction on gas facilities receive extensive training on PG&E facilities to ensure a safe and productive workforce.

Position Summary

The Gas Transmission Clearance Coordinator reports directly to the Transmission Project Clearance Operations Supervisor and is responsible for writing transmission pipeline clearance procedures. The primary focus of the position involves researching and writing transmission pipeline clearance documents requested by personnel working on project on the gas system. Additionally, this position may be called upon to support distribution requests as well. This position is also a technical expert on the clearance process and will be called upon to provide guidance and support to employees in the field. 50% travel time within the PG&E Service Territory with a 9/80 schedule. Roles will be system wide with a flexible reporting location.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contacts PM, Transmission Planner, Distribution Planner & Engineering to gather required data to develop clearance plan.
  • Develops an in-depth clearance draft based on system knowledge and project scope to review with the clearance supervisor
  • Develops a comprehensive clearance package that includes, ops maps, ops diagrams drawings, tap lists, clearance area map with notations, gas venting notifications and gas email notifications
  • Provide an authorized clearance package to the clearance supervisor to be used to perform the work.
  • Attends walk downs, pre-clearance and clearance review meetings to assure clearances are accurate based on field conditions and to develop expertise
  • Works with Transmission planner/Backbone planner & Distribution. Requests information in a timely manner to give planners time to respond & provides documentation to aid planners in providing information without having to research themselves
  • Works with GSO clearance coordinators. Is responsive to questions & requests to get clearances approved in timely manner.
  • Provide written and verbal communications during clearance review process, planning and engineering staff, GPOM team and the TPCO Supervisor
  • Provide afterhours, weekend, and emergency support for the clearance writing process.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Leadership experience
  • Two Years experience preparing gas transmission clearances and working knowledge of the Gas clearance process.
  • Two years' Experience working in SAP
  • Must have 3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas or equivalent work

Desired:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and/or an ability or willingness to learn the gas system clearance process; gas transmission, collection, and storage system operations; gas mapping and G.I.S.systems
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
